Reno has spent his entire life living and creating his art in Colorado. When he was a child, his parents instilled in him a love of learning and adventure that he maintains to this day. As a young boy, Reno traveled the world with his family, visiting Europe, Asia, North Africa, Mexico and Central America. His work reflects those early experiences with a global aesthetic.

While a student at the University of Northern Colorado, Reno participated in an exchange program that took him to the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, Italy. It was there that he discovered his passion and gift for carving stone.

Following the receipt of his Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts Education, Reno taught in the Denver Public Schools for two years. He apprenticed with renowned sculptor Elaine Calzolari and goldsmith Ken Nelson, and then opened a retail jewelry gallery in Denver. Reno has displayed his jewelry and sculpture in galleries in Aspen, Santa Fe, La Jolla and New York, and he has participated in art shows across the country, including the Cherry Creek Arts Festival in Denver and several American Craft Council shows.

Reno began refining his sculptural vision when he joined fellow stone carver Madeleine Weiner at her Purple Door Studio in Denver. He studied with Madeleine at several MARBLE/Marble symposiums, and spent a summer carving in Pietrasanta, Italy. Reno has exhibited his sculpture in the annual Loveland Sculpture in the Park show seven times, and collectors across the country seek out his work.
